The Gauley River is a 105 mi (169 km) long river in West Virginia. It is one of the most popular advanced whitewater runs in Eastern United States and attracts many people from all over the world. It merges with the New River to create the Kanawha River, a tributary of the Ohio River.

Spring boaters can raft on the Upper Sacramento River at Sims, only half an hour away from Mount Shasta.
