Garden Route is a popular stretch of the south-eastern coastline of South Africa. It is sand-witched between the Indian Ocean and the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains. It has a mild oceanic climate with mild to warm summers and mild to cool winters and considered second mildest climate after Hawaii according to the Guinness Book of Records.

The mountainous surroundings offer amazing mountain biking trails of diverse lengths and scenery. At 19 km/12 mi from Knysna, there is the amazing Harkerville Mountain Biking Trail with an intermediate level of difficulty. The color coded trails range from 14 to 24 km /8.6 to 15 mi and running through indigenous forests, tree plantations and coastal fynbos.

Biking is open to all levels and the trails are tailored to suit an individual’s best ability… you make the choice!! Rides are filled with breathtaking views and stunning climbs, followed by bone-rattling descents which are just awesome. Riding equipment and permit is offered and attire is just comfortable.

Depending on one’s route of choice, there is no reason why not carrying a swim suit just in case you need to cool off, before continuing your exhilarating ride!! Minimum age for riding is 10 years.
