Ice Climbing in Nevis Range, Fort William, Highlands and Islands United Kingdom

Altitude:
1234 m/4048 ft
Nevis Range is a snow-sports resort in the Highlands of Scotland, at 6 mi/10 km away from Fort William. Fort William is a town on the foot of Aonach Mor with great natural beauty, as it is situated in an area with special topography. In Fort William, you can easily find a wide range of hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars, as it is the largest town of Highlands.

Nevis Range is located on the southern slopes of Aonach Mor, a part of mountain range that includes Ben Nevis and Carn Mor Dearg. Given its altitude, it offers some of the most reliable ice climbing conditions in the Highlands.

There are two main climbing areas, the Coire an Lochain and the West Face. Nevis Range’s climbers gondola at 650 m/2132 ft height departs at 8 am every morning during the winter. In case of bad weather conditions, climbers can reach the same point by walking through the path, under the gondola line within 1.5 hours from the car park. An uplift at 870 m/2854 ft is also provided to the climbers by the Quad chair after 9 am.

It is very important for your safety to get informed about the daily weather and the associated dangers by the posts around the gondola base and the top stations. So, if you are an ice climbing seeker, Nevis Range is the place to be!!!
