In the Portuguese island of Madeira, in the municipality of Porto Moniz, you will find Achadas da Cruz. It's a small village that you can't miss easily. The simple life of the villagers, the harmony and peacefulness make this place the right paradise, where you can escape from everything.

If you see farmers with crops, don’t be afraid, you are not in a scary movie. They are really hospitable and they can show you how it looks like to be close to nature and be happy with simple things. Although, you probably feel that life has stopped in this place, the cable car doesn’t stop. This mean of transport leads you to the sea.

You can enjoy the view from up there, in the lovely cabin of the cable car, every day between 10:00-18:00. While you are in the cable car, you can hear the wind calling you. But be careful, if you are addicted to the wind, mind the gap and don’t jump.

Wait first to see the waves of Achadas da Cruz beach, then you can windsurf. The beach offers the right conditions for all kind of windsurfers, depending on their experience. The swell size starts working at 1.0 m-1.5 m (3 ft-5 ft) and holds up to 2.5 m+ / 8 ft+. There are reef-rocky waves with right and left directions and with normal length. In summer, the wind blows onshore at 87% and the wave swell size is 1.3-2 m (4-6.5 ft). In winter, the wind blows onshore at 70% and the waves swell size is from 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft). In autumn, there are also waves from 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft) and the wind blows onshore at 75%. In spring, the wave swell size is between 1.3 to 3 m (4-10 ft) and the wind blows onshore at 80%.

There is a windsurf school, with experts at your disposal, in case you need. In Achadas da Cruz there are accommodation options and other leisure activities, that you can do on your spare time.
