Wenatchee is the largest city of Chelan County, located in North Central Washington and lies on the west side of the Columbia River. The city is also known as the Apple Capital of the world, due to the valley's many apple cultivations.

Tumwater mountain is located next to Leavenworth Town, within half an hour away from Wenatchee. In order to reach the take off area, you have to hike up towards the mountain from the road along the edgy ridge. Tumwater Mountain is a great location for soaring flights and XC mountain flights with good lifting winds.

During spring, summer and fall, there are good thermal winds that help para-gliders to maintain increased altitude. The launch spot on the mountain has room for only one para-glider and a narrow corridor with a 2900 ft/833 m of vertical drop, not suitable for beginners. The view from Tumwater Mountain is breathtaking.

You fly over dense nature, mountains, creeks and you can see Leavenworth’s beautiful town and the river from above. It is an extreme location for more experienced para-gliders. Be careful of the winds over the back of the mountain.
