The spot is located in Calheta, on the southwest coast of a Portuguese archipelago island, Madeira. It’s well known as a fishing village, because of the big variety of fish the Atlantic ocean provides it with. In this place you can find harmony and peace. The swell size starts working at 1,5-2m/ 5-6 ft and holds up to 4m+ / 12ft. The best swell direction is from the west. The best waves are observed in autumn and winter. The wave swell size is between 2 and 3m (6,5-10ft) and the wind blows offshore at 34% and 37% respectively.
In the summer, we have waves with swell size from 1,3 to 2m (4-6,5ft) and the wind blows offshore at 25%, while in the spring the waves have the same swell size and the wind blows offshore at 35%. There is a windsurf school in Paul do Mar, in case you need.
