Matanzas, also called the City of Bridges, is the capital of the province of Matanzas. The city is well-known for its poets, sights of historical and cultural interest and Afro-Cuban folklore. On the east side of the city lies an excellent kitesurfing spot, especially for beginners and intermediate kiters.
The sandy, sheltered beach is usually crowded with windsurfers, surfers and bathers, but you still have enough space to launch and land your kite safely. The best wind direction is from the north and northeast, blowing between 10-15 knots/18.5-27.7 kph. In addition, the best months for winds are February, March and April.
