Mark Occhilupo, the famous professional surfer and world champion made Cronulla beach a famous surf spot. The beach features a long stretch of sand, extending from Boat Harbor to North Cronulla. Wanda beach is a popular surfing and wind surfing destination. You can explore the waves with swell sizes from 1 m-1.5 m/3 ft-5 ft and holds up to 2 m/6 ft.
In summer the wind blows offshore at 29%, in autumn the wind blows at 39%, in winter at 49% and in spring at 33%. This is an excellent location for windsurfing which works well in northeast breezes. The ideal swell direction is from the southeast, east. The average water temperature in summer is 21°C/69.8°F.
Finally, visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of the sea in one of the many cafes and restaurants that lie on the streets around the beach. Note: it is a crowded site, especially during summer.
