The village is built in the valley of the Thredbo River, formerly known as the Crackenback River, at the foot of the Ramshead Range. Thredbo represents Australia’s biggest vertical drop of 672 m/2204 ft. Tree runs as well as open areas and a true alpine village make the location an ideal location for snowboarders.
Thredbo also holds the biggest snow-making system in the Southern Hemisphere. Open vast areas of almost 2 km/1 mi with no natural snowfall at all are available and suitable for all level of practitioners. There are 30 trails that most of them are red but there are also green and some black ones.
At the snow resort, there are 14 lifts,2 half-pipes and terrain parks for all level, from junior to advanced. Thredbo Village offers more than 5,000 accommodation options, however, it is still a small place to scroll around. There is a free shuttle bus system with buses running in circles every 5 minutes, so you do not have to walk far when carrying your equipment and wearing your board.
