One of the biggest ski areas near Christchurch is Broken River. It is situated in Craigieburn Forest Park (in the heart of Southern Alps) and is 90 min drive from Christchurch. Broken River is mainly addressed to intermediate and advanced snowboarders, with many natural jumps and lips, drop-offs, a varied terrain and snowboarding opportunities.
