Big Jim Mountain is located on the Southeastern edge of the Chiwaukum Mountains and is one of the high peaks of Icicle Ridge. The top elevation of the mountain is at 7763 ft/2366 m high, suitable for climbing all year round. In order to approach the South Ridge of Big Jim Mountain, you hike up the very steep Hatchery Creek Trail and then hike North on the Icicle Creek Trail, leading you to the summit of the mountain.
The route is 18 mi/28 km long as a round-trip. South Ridge Route offers easy scrambling climbing, suitable for all skill levels and can be achieved in a day. For those who want to experience a true outdoor adventure, it is best to spend the night over in many wonderful campsites at Lake Augusta and enjoy nature.
