Emerald Peak is located in the Cascade Range, at the head of the North Fork Entiat River. The top elevation of the mountain is at 8422ft/2567m high and is suitable for climbing from Spring through Fall.
In order to approach Emeral Peak, hike the North Fork Entiat Trail by the river and when you reach a junction with the Pyramid Mountain Trail, go left until you get to the Emerald Mountain base. The mountain is one of the most eroded one in the area and because of this, the route to the summit is easy, suitable for all skill levels.
However, a very good physical condition is important. The summit is separated in two halves, with the southern one, being more steeply. Once you reach the top, the fantastic views and the alpine scenery is incredible. Emerald Peak can be reached in one day, but for the most adventurous climbers, it can be done as a two days trip or more, if combined with climbing the surrounding mountain summits. If you visit the mountain in early season, take an ice axe and crampons with you.
