Mark Occhilupo, the famous professional surfer and world champion made Cronulla beach a famous surf spot. The beach features a long stretch of sand, extending from Boat Harbor to North Cronulla. Wanda beach is a popular surfing and kite-surfing destination. The spot is appropriate for all levels of kiters.
The best wind direction is from the south, southeast. You can explore the waves with swell sizes from 1 m-1.5 m/3 ft-5 ft and holds up to 2 m/6 ft. In summer the wind blows offshore at 29%, in autumn the wind blows at 39%, in winter at 49% and in spring at 33%. Best months for kite-surfing are January, February, March, November and December.
There are kite-surf shops in the area, in case you need. Finally, visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of the sea in one of the many cafes and restaurants that lie on the streets around the beach. Note: keep a distance from surfers and flags and do not kite through groups of surf schools.
