Kahului is located in Maui Island on Hawaii and is the largest city of the Island. It is considered to be a shopping destination because there are several major stores and malls.

It’s also home to Kahana Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary and the Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum, dedicated to Maui’s sugar industry. Kahului has its own major airport located in the North shore. Kapilau Ridge is separating Iao Valley from Waikapu Valley.

The trail is 1.8 mi/3 km long (out and back) with an elevation gain of 1000 ft/304 m, an about three hours hike. The trail is in good shape but it is slippery and rocky. As you walk through, the path is getting narrow and it is overgrown in some points.

When you reach the end of the trail, the panoramic views of the two valleys and the ocean are spectacular. It is suitable for all skill levels but a good physical condition is essential because getting up is a real workout. Hikers should wear good hiking boots and take water and snacks with them as well as a raincoat.
