Cottesloe beach is a famous surfing beach, especially during summer month, when the thermal winds are in favour of surfing enthusiasts. It is an exposed beach break, offering reliable surf at any time of the year. In addition, it provides both left and right hand waves. Surfers are able to explore the waves with swell sizes that can start from 1 m/3 ft and hold up to 5 m/16 ft.
Offshore winds blow from the east, southeast and the ideal swell direction is from the west, southwest. In addition, the surf break is suitable for experienced surfers. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 48%, in autumn the wind blows at 55%, in winter at 39% and in spring at 43%.
Furthermore, the best tide position is all tides and the ideal tide movement is rising and falling tides. Finally, Cottesloe beach is an ultra crowded place with scuba divers, windsurfers and other surfers. Note: be careful of sharks, locals and rips.
