Best season:
All year round
Tampa is a big city located near Mexico Gulf, on the west coast of Florida. It is surrounded by two bodies of water that flow into the Gulf of Mexico, offering a subtropical climate, with hot humid days during summer with frequent thunderstorms and light freezes during winter.

The city is very well organized in regard to activities and recreational parks. According to Forbes magazine, it is the 5th best outdoor city in the United States. Treasure Island is an amazing tropical paradise, located at just a few miles away from Tampa.

With a wide open sandy beach, ideal for flatland boarding  in the wash of the waves and amazing turquoise waters, this place is the perfect location for skim-boarding. The beach is suitable for beginner and advanced skim-boarders and the best time to play and glide onto the sea toward the oncoming waves, is when the wind is coming from North, Nortwest and South, Southwest. The waves are fun to ride and the size of the swell starts working from  3 ft/1 m and holds up to 6 ft/2 m+.

With many schools and shops available on the area, this is a perfect place to enjoy the thrill of skim-boarding, learn new tricks and meet new people. The best season to visit is all year round. However, for the most advanced skim boarders, the best season is from November to April.  Note that during weekends the beach is ultra crowded with bathers and beach goers.
