Mossel Bay is a beautiful coast, located in between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, at 400 km/248 mi of distance both ways. It is surrounded by the sunbathed peninsula and the beautiful waters of the Indian Ocean. It offers a mild climate all year round, making it a perfect winter break destination.The weather is influenced by the Aghulas current of the Indian Ocean and by the presence of the Outeniqua mountains.

Hartenbos Beach is a large wide open beach, providing with the ideal conditions for kite-surfing. The spot is slight onshore with southeast winds and cross-shore with southwest direction, however kiting is best with the southeast winds.

Waves close out but the swells are generally small. Swells start from 1-2 m/3-6 ft with regional classic wave quality. Kite-surfing at this spot is open to all level of kite-surfers and is a year round activity. Wind strength stands at 15-25 knots.
