The Noosa River is a very popular kite-surfing spot in South East Queensland, South Australia, at 160 km/99 mi north of Brisbane, 1100 km/683 mi north of Sydney and 250 km/155 mi north of the Gold Coast. The catchment starts in Wahpoonga Range near Mount Elliot in the coastal Great Sandy National Park and meanders south through a lakes district around Tewantin. The catchment is mostly covered by sand dunes and has two major tributaries—Gin Gin Creek and Teewah Creek

When the tide is low, you have to walk quite a bit to get to the water, but it is a long, wide beach and sets a beautiful scenery. People with permit can drive their four wheel vehicles here. That leaves less space for the land kites, but still there is enough room for everyone.
This is a beach suitable for all kinds of wind sports and all levels of experience. Best time to visit is Spring and Fall. Best wind direction comes from North, Northeast and Northwest. Main wind courses are North, Southwest, West and Northwest. The beach is also known for its beautiful view of the sunset.
Close to the town of Dennis, it combines traditional and modern features and a number of means of recreation. There you can also find hotels, shops, restaurants and sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing lessons.
