Mojacar is a municipality of Almeria province (about 90 km/55 mi away), located in the southwest. This village lies between Carboneras and Garrucha, bordering the Sierra Cabrena mountains and the Mediterranean sea. The village has been inhabited by Phoenicians Greeks and Romans during history, leaving behind their architectural style. The whole village is build on the top of the hill with white traditional buildings surrounded by a big labyrinth of small narrow streets. Moffat beach is a popular tourist destination and attracts many beach enthusiasts. The site provides with the right conditions for many water-sports, including body-boarding. The average water temperature is around 28°C/82.4°F in summer and around 20°C/68°F in winter. Offshore winds usually blow from the south, southeast, while the ideal swell direction is also from the south, southeast.
The spot is appropriate for body-boarders of all levels. Here the swell sizes start from 1 m-1.5 m/3 ft-5 ft and holding up to 2.5 m/8 ft. The best tide movement is rising and falling tides and the ideal tide position is all tides. Keep in mind that, it is a crowded spot with other body-boarders and surfers.
