Kailua Kona is located in the North Kona District, Hawaii. It is a lively seaside town with sunny tropical weather all year long and lies at the bottom of the Hualalai Volcano.
The town hosts many interesting historical sites and is famous for its Kona Coffee cultivation and the crystal clear sea. Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes away in the south of the main town.
Along the sea side, there are shops to buy, rent or repair snorkeling gear. Kahaluu Beach Park is a small, protected cove with calm water and large variety of tropical fish. The bottom of the sea is reef coral with very shallow water which makes the spot perfect for beginners and children.
Snorkelers will have the opportunity to admire large numbers of fish that are unusually comfortable around swimmers, sea turtles and beautiful corals. Kahaluu beach park provides also with showers, restrooms, picnic tables and a lifeguard, so during weekends is ultra crowded.
