Port Hacking River or Bay Waves is a sand-bar break that is great when it works properly. You can reach the spot by boat or alternatively, you can paddle, for a long time, from Gunnamatta Park or Oak Park, but be careful of the strong current. Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from less than 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 2 m/6 ft.
The spot is suitable for novice and advanced surfers alike. The best tide movement is rising tides and the ideal tide position is low tide only. This surf site is usually uncrowded, you may encounter only few surfers, so it is a good choice if you hate beach crowds.
