To approach South Face route, which is located at Edward Peak, you follow the Snow Creek Trail. It is a great climb, combined with hiking and camping because you need from two to three days to approach, climb and return to Snow Creek parking lot.
The top elevation of the rock is at 7250 ft/2209 m and is suitable for climbing from May to September. The skill level required for this climb is grade II, class 5,7, not suitable for beginners due to the overall hard to reach North section of the Enchantments. South Face Route is a lichen covered rock, in some places, with two short crux sections.
Once you reach the top, the view of the Enchantment Peaks is breathtaking. The descent involves a single rappelling off the East side and a double rope, rappelling down the climbing route. If you visit South Face Route in early season, you will need an ice axe. Take a 196 ft/60 m rope and a small rack with you.
