Saska Peak, named after an Indian Chief of the Entiat Tribe, is one of the highest peaks in Chelan Mountains. The top elevation of the mountain is at 8404ft/2562m high and is suitable for climbing from Spring through Fall. In order to approach Saska Peak, hike the North Fork Entiat Trail by the river and when you reach a junction with the Pyramid Mountain Trail, go left until you get to the Saska Mountain base.
The mountain on the South side, has a moderate talus slope. The Northwest face is steep and there is a small ice field, formed on the north side of the summit. It is a great scramble climbing, suitable for all skill levels. However, a very good physical condition is important. Once you reach the top, the fantastic views and the alpine scenery are incredible.
Saska Peak can be reached in one day, but for the most adventurous climbers, it can be done as a two day trip or more, if combined with climbing the surrounding summits. If you visit the mountain in early season, take an ice axe and crampons with you.
