In order to reach Geike Glacier, you start from the Serrano River towards the Serrano fall and paddle upstream the fast flowing Geike River. If the flow is too strong, you will have to carry your kayak in some sections, by hand. It is an amazing adventure paddling upstream and between glaciers. Once you reach the glacier, you can relax and explore the area around. You can return by following the same route, while kayaking downstream this time. Geike river has strong currents and many obstacles to avoid.
The nature around you is overwhelming with outstanding ecosystems, different landscapes and rare flora and fauna, found nowhere else on the planet. In every step you take, the views of this dramatic land take your breath away. You can kayak the river all year round, but the best time to visit Torres del Paine is between November and February.
Be very well prepared in terms of gear, food and clothing because the weather is unpredictable with high winds, rain showers, long hot days during summer, snow and everything else you may think of. Wind proof layers are the key.
