Kailua Kona is located in the North Kona District, Hawaii. It is a lively seaside town with sunny tropical weather all year long and lies at the bottom of the Hualalai Volcano.

The town hosts many interesting historical sites and is famous for the Kona Coffee cultivation and the crystal clear sea. Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes in the south of the main town. Along the sea side, there are shops and schools to buy or rent diving gear, as well as take diving lessons if you are a beginner.

Kailua Bay is a wonderful spot for scuba diving with an average depth of 35 ft/10 m and maximum depth 89 ft/27 m. The sea is reef coral with good visibility and low currents. The bio-diversity of the bottom is amazing.

You will come across sea turtles, coral reefs, colored tropical fish and hundreds of garden eels. But the best time to go diving is during the night where you will meet with Manta Rays feeding with sea algae. Divers should be careful of boat traffic.
