Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, located on the Swan River. The climate here is classified as Mediterranean, with hot and dry summers and cool and wet winters. York is located at about 100 km/62 mi away of Perth and it is not only a great getaway from the town, but also a nice location for skydiving and paragliding. Mt Bakewell nestles on the northern outskirts of York. If the instinct for adventure sports runs in your blood, then you should visit this Mt Bakewell.

There are three launching sites. The south launch, is the most frequently used site for paragliding. It is a grass covered area that takes south, southeast winds. Admire the stunning views of York while you are floating through the air. The landing is on the Racecourse. Mt Bakewell is suitable for intermediate pilots. It is strongly recommended to watch out for power-lines and skydivers, as there is a skydiving spot behind the hill.

Keep in mind that the paragliding association is at your disposal. Last but not least, launch altitude stands at 436 m/1430 ft above sea level and the GPS coordinates for the take off are 31°51’10” (31.8528)S, 116°45’46” (116.763)E.

Head north on William St / State Route 53 toward Murray St. Turn right onto Wellington St / State Route 65. Turn left into Lord St / State Route 51. Slight left to stay on Lord St / State Route 51 Continue to follow the State Route 51. Turn right onto the ramp, Tonkin Highway S / State Route 4 to Airport. Enter the Tonkin Hwy / State Route 4. Take exit Great Eastern Highway / National Route 1/National Highway 94. Join the Great Eastern Hwy / National Highway 94/National Route 1. Continue to follow the National Highway 94. Exit at State Route 51. Continue along National Highway 94. Turn right onto Great Southern Hwy. Turn left into Avon Tce. Slight left at Ninth Rd.
