In the south-eastern side of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, there is a beach, named La Ventana where many water sports are being performed. La Ventana is situated on the western side of Gulf of California.

Stand Up Paddle-boarding or more usually SUP is a popular water sport at La Ventana. You can easily find many shops on the beach, where you can rent the appropriate equipment and let the adventure start! The truth is that if you have never tried it before, you can’t understand the difficulty of this sport, until the time you come up against the surfboard. It is a purposed built surfboard, on which you have to balance by using at the same time a long stretch paddle. SUP is an activity that requires the use of all groups of muscles, so you will certainly get physical fitness.

If you are experienced to SUP, the perfect season to visit Mexico and La Ventana is from November to April. During that period, especially in the afternoon, winds get stronger and their intention ranges from 13 knots/24 kph to 25 knots/46.3 kph. If you are a beginner, you may try it in the morning, when the winds are pretty weak. You may also have some lessons on the spot. There are many friendly instructors that it would be their pleasure to help you out to improve your technique. The wind direction is from the north, north-west and south-weat. The ideal swell direction is from the north. The temperature at La Ventana averages from 17°C/62.6°F to 34°C/93.2°F. In winter, the temperature of the water is about 21.1°C/70°F.
