Big Bear Lake and Bear Mountain are two sisters resorts. These resorts operate under the same management and are known as Big Bear Mountain Resorts. In 2002 it was purchased by Snow Summit and you can visit both resorts with one ski lift ticket. Bear Mountain Ski Resort attracts a lot of snowboarders.
Bear Mountain has 748 total permit ac/3.02 km², 198 developed acs/0.8 km² and 550 ac/2.22 km² accessible (Bow Canyons, Deer and Goldmine). There is a lift system of 12 mountain lifts, 2 high speed quad chairs, 1 quad chair, 2 triple chairs, 4 double chairs and 3 moving carpet lifts.
It has 4 mountain peaks, Bear Peak at 8805 ft/2684 m, Silver Mountain at 8560 ft/2609 m, Goldmine Mountain at 8440 ft/2572 m and Showdown Mountain at 8000 ft/2438 m. Top elevation is 8805 ft/2684 m, base elevation is 7140 ft/2176 m, vertical drop is 1665 ft/507.5 m, uphill capacity is 16.590 per/hour and rideable miles are 17 mi/27.3 km.
Terrain difficulty is 15% for beginners, 15% for low intermediate, 40% for intermediate and 30% for advanced athletes. There are 1 superpipe, 1 halfpipe and one beginner pipe. Longest run is Geronimo, which is 1.5 mi/2.4 km long. Average annual snowfall is 100 in/254 cm.
