Carpinteria State Beach is a protected beach in the state park of the city Carpinteria. It is located in the city of Carpinteria, at 12 mi/19.3 km south of Santa Barbara.

It is a retro beach and town, reminiscent of the 1950’s. It is full of natural bluffs, seal rookery and wetlands. When a visitor is walking through the trail, he/she is surrounded by intoxicating scents of eucalyptus, ocean and wild foliage alongside with the chilling sounds of the waves, children that are laughing, frog serenade in the lagoon, happy dogs and even the passing trains.

The place is popular for body-boarding. Wave quality is normal and there is no previous experience needed in order to body-board in this beach. The type of the wave is beach – break and the direction are both left and right.

Good swell direction comes from west, southwest and the size of the swell starts form less than 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 2 m+/6 ft. Best tide position is mid and high and best tide movement is rising and falling tides.

The beach is at the end of Palm Avenue. Carpinteria Beach is located at Linden Ave and 3rd St, Carpinteria CA 93013. From Highway 101 southbound, exit at Carpinteria Avenue. Follow Carpinteria Avenue until you come to Linden Avenue and turn right. Head to the end of Linden Avenue and grab a parking in the lot or along the road. Parking is free.From Highway 101 northbound, exit at Casitas Pass and turn towards the ocean. Turn right on Carpinteria Ave, and left on Linden Avenue. Park along the road.
