Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes in the south of the main town. Alua Beach is perfect for beginners and children. It has an average depth of 6.1 m/20 ft and maximum depth 18.3 m/60 ft with no sea currents and good visibility.
The biodiversity of the bottom is interesting with a lot of colored tropical fish, eels, sea turtles, Manta Rays, big rocks and corals. Divers should be careful of boat traffic coming from Honokohau Harbor.
