The town is surrounded by Lake Wakatipu and the awe-inspiring Southern Alps, with spectacular mountains such as the Remarkables, Cecil Peak and Ben Lomond. One of the biggest ski terrains where you can enjoy the dog sledding experience is Snow Farm. Situated just outside Cardrona village at an altitude of 1500 m / 4921 ft, it is located at 55 km / 34 mi from Queenstown and 35 km / 21 mi from Wanaka.
The site is open from late June to early October and provides a great variety of facilities and activities. The terrain of the site is ideal for dog sledding, offering a great number of routes and trails (you can even propose your own trail to the operators).
For those who prefer a whole night expedition, “overnighter” is the perfect choice. You will spend the night at Meadow Hut (some 50 m / 164 ft off your trail) and get to feed and water the dogs. Enjoy the breathtaking view!
