Punta Las Marias is a very popular reef break that accommodates a great number of watersports, including kitesurfing, surfing and windsurfing. The beautiful sandy beach is located close to San Juan and near the Luis Muñoz Marin international airport. The spot provides excellent sea breeze conditions, especially from October to July.
Windsurfers are able to explore the waves with swell sizes that can start from 1 – 1.5 m/3 – 5 ft and hold up to 2.5 m/8 ft. The best wind direction is from the east and the wind force is medium, usually 12-25 knots/22.2-46.3 kph. In addition, the average water temperature is 28°C/82.4°F. Punta Las Marias is suitable for both the novice and experienced windsurfer.
If you don’t have previous experience or wish to improve your skills, then you should visit one of the many schools and shops, operating in the area. Last but not least, after a long day on the beach, you should experience the excitement of the famous nightlife of San Juan. Note: be careful of urchins and rocks.
