Alta Sierra (aka Shirley Meadows) is a very small ski resort located in Wofford Heights, in the Greenhorn Mountain, at about 60 mi/96.6 km northeast from Bakersfield, California, USA.

It is a great place for snowboarding. When you arrive in Alta Sierra, the first building you meet is the ticket office, where you can buy your passes and tickets, so make sure to stop there first.

It is a lovely place to snowboard, with 600 ft/182.8 m vertical drop and top elevation at 7091 ft/2161 m. Base elevation is at 6500 ft/1981 m. The resort offers 2 lifts totally with 8 runs, 30% for beginners, 40% for intermediate and 30% for advanced snowboarders. Longest run is 11482 ft/3500 m and ski season lasts from December to March.

It is highly recommended to wear a helmet, if you want to participate in any activities in the snow. If you don’t have a helmet, you can always rent one from the resort. If you have an active military ID card, you get 20% off in equipment rentals. The resort has a tube park with automated lift, taking you and your tube to the top of the tube course.
