- HOW TO GO
Skimboarding in Moonta Bay, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia Australia
Moonta is located roughly at 160 km/99 mi in the northwest of Adelaide, also known as the ‘Copper Triangle”, formed by two other close towns, Wallaroo and Kadina. The Port Hughes jetty offers excellent fishing opportunities with blue crabs, snook, tommy ruffs, King George whiting, flathead, snapper and squid .
The beaches are stunning while the flat wide sandy bottom of the shores with its clear blue green waters are excellent for families and provide excellent conditions for teenagers who love to initiate themselves into skim-boarding.
Copper was discovered in this area in 1861 and led to the establishment of the Moonta Mining Company. There is a huge variety of accommodation options and cottages available on the spot, some of which are within walking distance from sandy beaches, jetties and cafes.
