Costa Esmeralda is a stretched line of beaches, running along the northeastern side of the Mexican state of Veracruz, on the Gulf of Mexico. Veracruz is divided into 212 municipalities and its capital is Xalapa-Enriquez.

Costa Esmeralda offers an amazing kite-surfing experience. The wind direction is from the north, south and southeast with the north being the prevailing wind. Costa Esmeralda is famous for its Northerlies, whose intention range from 20 knots/37 kph to 40 knots/74 kph. That happens during the period from October to March. It is actually the best period you may visit Costa Esmeralda and enjoy the winds and the waves. The height of the waves averages from 0.5 m/1.6 ft to 3 m/9.8 ft. Styles that kite-surfers may try are freestyle, wave, and certainly bump and jump.

The temperature ranges from 14°C/57.2°F to 33°C/91.4°F. Rainfall is a usual phenomenon during the summer. The temperature of the water averages to 22°C/71.6°F. Costa Esmeralda is appropriate for beginners and advanced kite-surfers. There are experienced instructors who will help you out and take you to the next level.
