Heli Skiing in Queenstown, South Island, Otago New Zealand

Heli skiing season:
Early July - late September
Level:
Intermediate/expert
Queenstown is considered by many sportsmen as the capital of extreme sports and adventure activities. It is situated in Otago region, in the South Island, New Zealand.

The town is surrounded by Lake Wakatipu and the awe-inspiring Southern Alps, with spectacular mountains such as the Remarkables, Cecil Peak and Ben Lomond. Queenstown and the surrounding area was the setting for the legendary films Lord of the Rings and X-Men Origins. Despite the mountainous landscape, the climate is considered to be oceanic, with warm summers and temperatures that can reach up to 30°C/86°F, and cold winters with frequent snowfalls.

Intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the ultimate activity of heli-skiing. You will be transferred by helicopter to untouched mountain terrains: Walter Peak, the magnificent Clarke glacier, Eyre and Head mountains. Enjoy a great variety of trails: Hare Basin and Tussock Jumper (intermediate), Lochy Peaks, Turret and the legendary Courage (expert). At the end of each trail, the helicopter will pick you up and transfer you to the next skiing/snowboarding terrain. Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses with you!

Note: Heli-skiing season is from early July to late September.
