Caloundra is located at 90 km/56 mi in the north of Brisbane and it is the southernmost resort on the Sunshine Coast. With several beautiful beaches and ideal weather conditions, Caloundra is definitely a great holiday destination.

Kings beach is the most popular surf beach in Caloundra. It is an exposed beach break that provides with the right conditions for surfing and body-boarding at any time of the year. Offshore winds blow from the northwest and the best swell direction is from the south, southeast. On this spot swell sizes start from 1 m/3 ft and holding up to 4 m/12 ft. In addition, the best tide movement is rising and falling tides and the ideal tide position is all tides.

The average water temperature is around 28°C/82.4°F in summer and around 20°C/68°F in winter. The site is appropriate for both beginners and experienced body-boarders. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 7%, in autumn the wind blows at 9%, in winter at 14% and in spring at 9%. Keep in mind that, it is a crowded spot, especially during weekends.

Furthermore, the foreshore area caters a variety of facilities, including picnic tables, BBQ facilities and playgrounds for the kids. Last but not least, apart from water-sports, there are many attractions and leisure activities to enjoy and have fun in Caloundra. Note: be careful of rips, rocks and localism.
