Mornington Peninsula lies to the southeast of Melbourne, Victoria’s capital city. It is surrounded by Western Port to the east and Port Phillips to the west. There is a vast number of great surf sites all along this section. Meanos is located between Gunnery and Farm. The spot is an exposed reef break, hosting reliable conditions for surfing. Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 2.5 m/8 ft.
The best tide movement is rising and falling tides and the ideal tide position is mid and high tide. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 71%, in autumn the wind blows at 56%, in winter at 45% and in spring at 65%. Offshore winds blow from the north and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest, south. The spot is suitable for experienced surfers. Keep in mind that during summer the swell is often smaller.
Last but not least, apart from surfing you can also explore the peninsula which is famous for the variety of beaches, the wineries and the mazes. Note: watch out for sharks, rocks and locals.
