But, don’t be surprised with the alternative means of transport. If you want to go to the sea, you can take the cable car from the village. You  can enjoy the view over Porto Moniz, from a cabin of the cable car, between 10:00-18:00 every day, while the sea is calling you from far away. It’s possible to come across farmers coming up with their crops and maybe some of them coming up with their surfboard, because Achadas da Cruz beach gives you all you need to surf. The spot offers world class wave quality and has the right conditions for all kind of surfers, depending on their experience.
There are reef-rocky waves with right and left directions and normal length. The swell size starts working at 1.0-1.5 m (3-5 ft) and holds up to 2.5 m+ / 8 ft+. The best tide movement is rising and falling tides. In summer, the wave swell size is 1.3-2 m (4-6.5 ft) and the wind blows onshore 87%. In autumn, the wind blows onshore 75% an the waves have swell size 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft). In winter, we have also waves from 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft) and the wind blows onshore 70%. In spring, the wave swell size is between 1.3 to 3 m (4-10 ft) and the wind blows onshore 80%.
