Sunset Beach is located in north Orange County and is undoubtedly one of the most favorable kite-surfing spots in California. The spot offers peaceful and luxurious surroundings all year long, while the better season for going kite-surfing is from April to October.

Sunset Beach offers an excellent  kite-surfing spot where intermediate practitioners can kite-surf safely. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that you can launch your kite only between the Checkered Flags at Broadway & 11th Street.

The spot has many things to offer to ambitious kitesurfers that want to practice their favorite sport especially by using the wave style of kitesurfing. Best time of the day to enjoy the waves is in the afternoon where along with the kite surfing excitement you will be enchanted by the stunning sight of the sun coming down to sleep.

The thermal wind with its medium force of 16-25 knots/18.4-28.8 mph, when blowing from the northwest creates optimum conditions for a kite surfing experience of a life time. The spot also offers best relative wind direction of side-onshore.

If you wish to kite-surf at this magnificent beach you will have to bear in mind that it is followed by some strict rules. You must be able to self relaunch, stay upwind and self rescue and ride waves. Around the beach you will find all the necessary amenities making this spot a perfect kite-surfing weekend or even full holiday destination.
