Puerto Rico is situated in the northeastern Caribbean and consists of an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands. The climate here is classified as tropical marine climate, with an average temperature of 82.4°F/ 28°C, throughout the year. Although it is a small island, the smallest island of the Greater Antilles, Puerto Rico provides superb natural surroundings, countless adventure experiences and many places of historical interest.

Puerto Rico is considered to be the best destination for kitesurfing in the entire Caribbean, due to constant winds and the abundance of kitesurfing schools. Ocean Park is one of the most popular and probably the safest kiteboarding spot in Puerto Rico. The wide sandy beach has steady winds, attracting a vast number of surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers.

The swell sizes usually start from 1 m-1.5 m/3 ft-5 ft and can hold up to 4 m/12 ft. The best wind direction is from the east, northeast and the ideal period for waves is from October to July. Ocean Park accommodates both the beginner and experienced kiter. Note that the average water temperature is 28°C / 82.4°F, which means that you can kitesurf the most time of the year.

If you don’t have previous experience or wish to improve your technique, then you can visit one of the many kite-surfing schools and shops, that are available close to the spot. Finally, after a long day on the beach, you should explore the famous nightlife of San Juan, with the numerous restaurants, bars and clubs. Note: be careful of rocks.
