Viganj is a small picturesque village on the west side of the southern coast of Peljesac Peninsula, bordered by the Adriatic Sea. The spot is among the most beautiful coastal places in Croatia. Located in a wonderful bay at the edge of a forested zone within Peljesac channel, Viganj has became a hot spot for windsurfers from all over the world and a perfect place for summer holidays.

Favored by the Mediterranean climate, Viganj has long and hot dry summers with an average temperature of 25 °C/ 77 °F . As it is located  in the narrowest part of the channel, the wind accelerates twice as fast as it does in the Adriatic Sea, thus providing with the perfect conditions for freestyle and high speed windsurfing.

The consistent Mistral winds coming from Northwest, reach a speed of up to 27 knots/50 kph and usually start from 12:00 pm and hold until sunset. The water is crystal clear and the waves can sometimes be rough and choppy. Viganj Beach is ideal for all skill levels and there are schools as well as gear rentals available on the spot for those who want to take lessons or improve their skills.

You can windsurf there from May to late September. However, for the adrenaline seekers who wish to experience the speed of the wind at its best form, the best season is from June to late August. Viganj Beach also hosts many national windsurfing competitions such as the Open Championship of Croatia and the Croatian Cup, where the best windsurfers compete each other in speed and skills. Without a doubt, this is the best place for windsurfing in Croatia.
