Mona Vale is a suburb in northern Sydney, at about 28 km/17 mi north of Sydney's CBD (Central Business District). Mona Vale beach streches about 1km between the broad rock platform that divides it from the Basin, on the north side and from the Warriewood beach, on the south side. This spot provides good facilities and a picnic area.

Mona Vale beach is a quite exposed beach break and has dependable surf at all stages of the tide. Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from 3 ft-5 ft (1 m-1.5 m) to 8 ft (2.5 m). The best tide movement is rising tide. The beach is appropriate for experienced surfers.

Offshore winds blow from the northwest, west and the best swell direction is from the northeast. In summer the wind blows offshore at 14%, in autumn the wind blows at 17%, in winter at 16% and in spring at 16%. The average water temperature is about 21ÂşC/69.8ÂşF. Watch out for undertow, rips and locals. Note: the beach is crowded during weekends.
