Peniche is a municipality and a seaside city, situated in formerly Estremadura Province, in Oeste Subregion. The municipality consists of 6 parishes and it is a popular surfing destination.

Molhe Leste is a beach, situated south of the harbour at Peniche. Featuring similar conditions to Supertubos, Molhe Leste is very popular among surfers.

The spot is a very powerful wedge and along with the world class wave quality, experienced surfers will have a blast!! Waves don’t break regularly, but they have awesome right direction. The wave type is sand-bar and waves are hollow, powerful and fast.

On normal days the wave length reaches up to 50 m/164 ft, while on good days up to 150 m/492 ft. Due to the proximity of the beach, in the city, the place gets crowded at weekends, but there are few surfers on weekdays.

When conditions are ideal, the wind blows from the east or northeast and the swell comes from the southwest, making this place amazing. Usually the swell starts working at 1 – 1.5 m/3 – 5 ft and holds up to 3+ m/10+ ft. The spot works perfectly on low and mid tide and the best tide movement is rising and falling tides.

Dangers include localism, so please do respect the locals or you will get in real trouble. Nevertheless, Molhe Leste rocks and it is an awesome surfing destination!!
