Puerto Rico is situated in the northeastern Caribbean and consists of an archipelago that includes the main island of Puerto Rico and a number of smaller islands. The climate here is classified as tropical marine climate, with an average temperature of 82.4°F/ 28°C, throughout the year. Although it is a small island, the smallest island of the Greater Antilles, Puerto Rico provides superb natural surroundings, countless adventure experiences and many places of historical interest.

Luquillo is a municipality that is situated on the northeast coast of Puerto Rico. It is well-known thanks to its amazing, sandy beaches. Luquillo Beach is one of the best public beaches in the San Juan region, providing a number of facilities and amenities. La Pared and La Selva are also popular spots for a number of watersports. La Selva, which means the Jungle, is a reef break next to La Pared surf site.

It provides reliable surf at any time of the year and offers left hand waves. In addition, the best tide position is mid tide and the ideal tide movement is rising and falling tides. The optimum wind direction is from the south and southwest. Furthermore, the ideal swell direction is from the north and northwest. The site is suitable for experienced surfers.

If you hate beach crowds, then this is the right place for you, especially on weekdays. It should be mentioned that La Selva can only be reached on foot from La Pared. Finally, the island caters many surf shops and schools, in case you want to learn the basics or improve your technique. Note: be careful of rocks.
