Ushuaia is the capital city of the Tierra del Fuego province in Patagonia, commonly referred as the southernmost city in the world, being also an important naval base. It is located in a wide open bay, on the south coast of Isla Grande de Terra del Fuego and bordered in the north by the Martial mountain range.

Ushuaia has subpolar oceanic climate with warm summers and cool winders. The city is surrounded by Magellanic subpolar forest rich in flora and fauna with several recreation activities. Tierra Mayor Valley is a wonderful natural reserve, located at a few miles away from the city of Ushuaia. Snowmobiling is an exciting way to discover the wild land of Patagonia, while enjoying the cold mountain air through unspoiled landscapes.

Tierra Mayor is the biggest Nordic center in the area with 50 km/31 mi of trails, set in a sprawling valley. There are four main trails that you can follow. The first is the Pista Valle which is 5 km/3 mi long and goes around a section of the valley, in and out of the forest and the Dique de Castores that is 6 km/3.7 mi long as a loop ride. The third trail is a 13 km/8 mi loop ride, that is used mostly for training purposes and the last trail is 10 km/6.2 mi long and takes you the small Refugio Cerro Bonete and the frozen Perdida lake.

There is no better way of exploring white blanketed hills and scenic overlooks, along with the fun of driving a snowmobile up and downhill through forests and valleys. In every turn you take, the views of this dramatic land take your breath away. Be very well prepared in terms of gear, food and clothing because the weather is changeable and unpredictable with high winds, rain showers, long hot days during summer, snow and everything else you may think of. Wind proof layers are the key.
