Ericeira is a seaside resort and fishing community that belongs to the municipality of Mafra, situated on the western coast of Portugal. This place is a popular destination to many surfers, as near the area there are over 40 beaches with excellent surfing conditions.

Sanguessuga is a beach situated on the same coast as Pedra Branca and Reef, but mostly near the left side of Pedra Branca. The spot is reached by a car and a short walk of 5 – 15 minutes.

It is kind of easy to find and you can also access it by a 4×4 vehicle. The regional classic wave that sometimes breaks is perfect for pros or kamikaze only.

The reef-rocky wave has excellent left direction and is hollow, fast and powerful. On normal and good days, the length of the wave is short up to 50 m/164 ft. The best wind direction blows from the east. The best swell direction comes from the northeast and north, while the swell starts working at less than 1 m/3 ft and holds up to 2+ m/6+ ft. The spot works perfect only on high tides and the best movement is rising tides.

Weekly and weekends, only few surfers try to dominate these hard waves. Dangers are many, such as urchins, rips/undertow, rocks and localism. Generally, the wave is short, but very powerful, promising the ride of your life in best days. You will just love it!!!
