Düsseldorf is the center of the Rhine – Ruhr metropolitan region and the capital city of the German state of North Rhine – Westphalia. It is known for its fine arts, its relatively large Japanese community and its pioneering influence on experimental – electronic music. Nonetheless, Düsseldorf is also famous for its extreme sports activities, being performed in the wider area.

Surprisingly, sea sports are very popular in Düsseldorf. At the South Beach which is located in the Unterbracher See, at only 20 minutes from downtown of Düsseldorf, a sea sport is very popular and that is kite-boarding. South Beach is a very beautiful sandy beach that is recommended for kite-boarding.

At the beach you find a sun terrace where you can enjoy a quick snack or drinks with a view that will make you forget that you are just outside Düsseldorf. Shops and schools with experienced and friendly staff are ready to assist you with brushing up your skills. The lake is 2.5 km /1.9 mi long so be prepared for long kite-boarding sessions!
