The Gauley River is a 105 mi (169 km) long river in West Virginia. It is one of the most popular advanced whitewater runs in Eastern United States and attracts many people from all over the world. It merges with the New River to create the Kanawha River, a tributary of the Ohio River.

West Virginia is commonly known as the Mecca of whitewater. During its course, Gauley River offers 650′ vertical drop and more than 100 major rapids.
