Shoal Bay West is on the western side of the island of Anguilla. Anguilla belongs to Leeward Islands in the West Indies. The island is located in the east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, being situated in the northern Caribbean Sea and the western Atlantic Ocean. Its capital is The Valley.

Shoal Bay West is eastern of Sherricks Bay and western of Maundays Bay. Anguilla offers perfect weather conditions, being an ideal destination for those who love sun, and of course water-sports. The hurricane period that results in unpredictable forecasts, like rainstorms, lasts from August to December. During this period, about half days of month are rainy. Kite-surfing is one of the water-sports that can be performed at Shoal Bay West. There is almost always good wind for kitesurfing due to the fact that Anguilla hasn’t got many buildings and mountains to obstruct the wind.

The direction of the wind is east and northeast. The intention of the wind may reach at 25 knots, something that happens during two periods in year. The first one is from December to March. Then the wind speed falls until June when it rises again for about 2 months. From September to November, the wind speed falls to the minimum 16 knots.

Kite-surfers may try the style of free-ride, freestyle or bump and jump. The temperature of the water is about 25˚C/77˚F in winter and about 28˚C/82.4˚F in summer. The temperature is about 1 to 2 points higher than waters’. Shoal Bay West is definitely a beautiful and safe place fol all levels of kite-surfers.
